Love at first sight. Wines of Piedmont

Master class "Love at first sight. Wines of Piedmont" was held on November 21 in Moscow, in the restaurant of Serbian cuisine "Monument "(Pokrovka, 1/13), within the frames of the business program of the international exhibition Russian Wine Fair 2012. It was run by Massimo Lanci, Director of DOSIO company (Italy), which Master class "Love at first sight. Wines of Piedmont" was founded in 1974. Today, the plant produces Piedmontese wines of high quality. Its production capacity amounts to 600 thousand bottles a year. The winery is located in a beautiful upland area of La Morra, in the very heart of the Langhe region. From a height of 500 meters above sea level, one is offered an expansive view of the valley stretching from Cuneo to Turin, in the stunning setting of the Alps.
The following wines were presented at the tasting:
1. DOSIO Roero Arneis Docg 2011.
White dry wine.
Alcohol: 12.5%. Variety of grape: 100% Arneis. Produced by the "white" method.
The wine is light yellow in color with a greenish tint. Bouquet: fresh and delicate, with a hint of gorse and chamomile, pear and mint. Mineral nuances in the taste. Recommended combinations: fish and shellfish, white meat, omelet and seasonal vegetables, snacks and summer salads.
2. DOSIO Momenti Langhe Doc 2006 Rosso.
Red dry wine.
Alcohol: 14%. This wine is made from two varieties of grapes: 50% Barbera and 50% Nebbiolo, with different characteristics. Wine is of rich garnet-red color with a purple tint, in the aroma: plum, notes of rose, violet, passing into notes of cocoa and vanilla. The wine is a perfect blend of traditional acidity of Barbera with noble tannins of Nebbiolo. Recommended combinations: red meat, aged cheeses.
3. DOSIO Nebbiolo d’Alba Doc 2008
. Red dry wine.
Alcohol: 14%. Dry red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo. Garnet-red color with a slight orange tint. The bouquet: scent of roses, violets, blackberry and currant. The taste is very delicate and refined, with a harmonious blend of gentle tannins and acidity. Recommended to serve with red meats, aged cheeses.
4. DOSIO Barolo Docg 2008.
Red dry wine.
Alcohol: 14%. Variety of grape: 100% Nebbiolo. In Italy is considered as the "king's wine." Wine of garnet red color with a slight orange tint. The aroma of violets and cherries, and a light chocolate notes, with a touch of leather and hay. Taste pleasantly dry and full of content due to the balanced acidity and tannins of noble Nebbiolo grape. Recommended combination: red meat, wildfowl, stews and aged cheese. Shelf life of wine: 20-25 years.
The wine of Italian company DOSIO is not yet represented in Russia, so the opportunity to assess its unique properties has been provided only to participants of the master class and professional visitors of Russian Wine Fair 2012 at the company's stand.
