On November 21 at the restaurant "Monument" (Pokrovka, 1/13) a master class took place called "Passionate Spain from Antonio Banderas (winery Anta Banderas) and other authentic wines from Spanish wineries." The event was held in a lively and friendly atmosphere and was accompanied by snacks from the restaurant of Serbian cuisine "Monument". Wines of Spanish producers have aroused enormous interest among participants - professionals of the wine market.
The first two wines were presented by Mr. Jorge Pelaez from the GAN wine company.
Jorge Pelaez is the son of Mariano Pelaez, founder of the brand "Marquis de Bizoha." Founded in 1966, the brand has a great reputation in the wine sector in Spain. And the followers of the founder of the brand carefully observe the traditions of winemaking which formed the basis of its production. More than 40 hectares of vines are located on the banks of the Minho, on the land of "La Moreira" estates, which is situated on the border between Spain and Portugal.
Marques de Vizhoja (Rias Baixas) 2010. Dry white.
Author’s wine made from grapes picked by hand. Straw-yellow color with green hues. In the aroma - greens and citrus fruits. In the taste - apples, pears, lemon. Recommended to be served with seafood, fish and pasta dishes.
La Legua Crianza (Cigales) 2009. Dry red.
Wine from grape variety Tempranillo. In the aroma and taste - ripe fruits. Recommended to be served with meat, ham, jamon and cheese.
Odipus (Navarra) 2008. Dry red.
Made from grape variety Garnacha. Very structured, serious wine, with medicinal herbs in its flavor. The wine with great potential for storage in the bottle. Not tied to a particular food.
Mr. Gabriel Ruiz Lopez, CEO of GAN wine company, exclusively presented the wine from the Anta Banderas winery belonging to Antonio Banderas. The participants of tasting liked this wine very much. It was noted that Mr. Banderas personally supervises the process of winemaking.
Matamangos (Cigales) 2006. Dry red. Strong and powerful wine, at the same time very comprehensible and easy.
The last item presented at the end of master class was mezcal, which is considered to be the best drink in Mexico.
Mr. Nelson Valdes, CEO of the Mexican company Casa Armando Guillermo Prieto/AGP Wine&Spirits, presented mescal Zignum Mezcal. The house of Prieto produces mescal using the best raw materials. This is the first plant which produces mezcal which has a certificate of "clean production" and "Kosher."
The Mezcal Zignum Mezcal Anejo presented at the master class has 38% vol. It is made of 100% green agave ("espadin"). Exposure of more than 12 months in new barrels from French white oak. Color: amber, shiny. The aroma: strong blend of wood scents.
Mr. Valdes explained how the Mexicans drink mezcal (or tequila): instead of the traditional components, which are used by Russians - lemon and salt, the Mexicans use a slice of orange sprinkled with cinnamon.
